GUCTech

1. Overview

This Data Privacy Policy explains how GUC Tech Inc. ("GUC Tech", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information. GUC Tech Inc. is a technology company based in Ontario, Canada, providing custom software development, app development, and ongoing software support.

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws. This policy applies to guctech.ca and to personal information we handle in the course of our business and services. For a shorter, plain-language summary, see our Privacy Policy.

2. Personal information we collect

We limit collection to what is necessary for the purposes described below. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

  • Information you give us directly — when you contact us (for example, by email at contact@guctech.ca), we receive your name, email address, and whatever you include in your message.
  • App accounts and purchases — if you create an account or make a purchase in an app we publish, we collect the account details you provide (such as name and email) and purchase information. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store; we do not collect or store your payment card details, and we receive only the confirmation and receipt information needed to deliver and support what you bought. Our apps may also process device identifiers and basic usage or diagnostic data needed to operate, secure, and improve them.
  • Information collected automatically on this website — guctech.ca is informational. It does not run analytics or advertising trackers and does not set cookies beyond those your browser needs to load the page. Standard server logs (such as IP addresses) may be processed by our hosting provider for security and reliability.
  • Client and project information — in the course of building and supporting software and apps, we may handle information contained in materials our clients share with us, on their behalf and under our agreement with them.

3. How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your inquiries and provide the services you request;
  • create and manage app accounts, and process and support app purchases;
  • build, deliver, maintain, and support the software and apps we develop;
  • operate, secure, and improve our website, apps, and services;
  • meet our legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.

4. Consent

We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent, except where the law permits or requires otherwise. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us. If you ever receive commercial electronic messages from us, you can unsubscribe at any time, consistent with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

5. Service providers and disclosure

We share personal information only as needed to run our business, and only with parties bound to protect it. These currently include:

  • Cloudflare — hosting for guctech.ca and email routing for our @guctech.ca email addresses (including contact@ and policy@).
  • Apple — App Store distribution and payment processing for apps we publish.
  • Google Fonts — our site loads fonts from Google to display typography, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those fonts.

We may also disclose information where required by law, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, and, if GUC Tech is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, as part of that transaction. Our service providers are engaged under terms requiring protections consistent with this policy and applicable law. We remain accountable for personal information in their care.

6. International handling of information

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Where information is handled in another country, it may be accessible to that country's courts, law enforcement, and regulators under its laws. We take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected in a manner consistent with this policy.

7. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required for legal, accounting, or business purposes. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

8. Safeguards

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information to protect it against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
  • request correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete information we no longer need.

To make a request, email policy@guctech.ca. We will respond within the timeframes required by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

10. Children's privacy

Our website, apps, and services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and we will update the "last updated" date above. Where changes are material, we will make that clear.
